One person that embodies beauty and power is Serena Williams. The grand slam winner not only dominates in tennis, but she also has been involved in fashion, film, television, and charity work. With Serena having so much success she still remains a humble woman and someone young girls can look up to.
Serena has her own website (www.serenawilliams.com) where she shares all of her accomplishments, fashion choices, blogs on her tennis matches, and her different partners. She even has a section called “SerenaFridays” where she shares different video clips of her life with fans, such as video of her dog Chip, her coaches, and other cool things as well. People can also keep up with her on social media (Instagram: SerenaWilliams, Twitter: @SerenaWilliams). Celebrities sometimes feel so out-of-reach and untouchable but the things Serena puts on her website, and social media, makes her fans feel as though they really do know her.
Serena was born in Michigan but while she was still a baby her family moved to Compton, California and Serena started playing tennis at four years old. When she was nine years old her family moved to West Palm Beach, Florida and Serena continued to develop her skills in tennis. It was not too long before Serena began to take over the sport.

Her trophy case includes three French opens, six US opens, six Wimbledons, 66 single matches, 22 double matches, and four gold medals! She was also recently named Sport Illustrated’s Sportsperson of the year and snagged the cover of the December issue of the magazine. Serena is still relatively young, so for her to accomplish all of that is amazing.
The 34-year-old Michigan native is also passionate about acting and fashion. She has appeared on shows such as “Drop Dead Diva,” and “The Division” on Lifetime and “Street Time” on Showtime. Vogue Magazine has named her a “Fashion Trendsetter” and she even has her own clothing line called Aneres (fun fact: the name of her clothing line is her name spelled backwards).
Serena Williams wins because not only is she a champion in her sport but she is also changing the perception of beauty and helping people to see that there is not just one look of beauty. For so long many thought that a woman having an athletic body with defined muscles was not beautiful and that is not true at all. Through all the negativity people have thrown her way Serena has remained positive and continues to make strides in her career.
